40802 Luna Lovegood and the Thestral arrived in my collection on 17 November 2025. Luna is number 279, the Thestral 280, and the box holds 292 pieces for a duo from the world of Harry Potter. LEGO shows a scene from the fifth instalment, “Order of the Phoenix”, in which Luna is in the forest with the Thestrals and feeds a young Thestral an apple. It’s another Harry Potter set in 2025 after The Goblet of Fire Figures, so fans of the series have been given a really rich universe in BrickHeadz form.

Building 40802 takes maybe an hour, and the two figures are genuinely different in construction: Luna is a traditional BrickHeadz, but the Thestral is a very organic animal build that departs from the standard. Luna has loose light blonde hair, a printed pink blouse with purple lettering (a typically quirky Luna outfit) and a blue strap with a camera slung across her chest, and in her right hand she holds a red apple that she feeds to the Thestral. The Thestral is an all-black build split across three bags, with two wings, four legs, a long tail and a head. The whole Thestral stands on two transparent 2×2 bricks, so it looks as if it’s floating in the air or leaping, which is a real treat for the eye on the shelf. Together with 40791 The Goblet of Fire Figures and 40677 Prisoner of Azkaban Figures they round out a strong Wizarding World section in my collection.
