40349: Valentine’s Puppy

The Valentine’s Puppy is BrickHeadz number 81 from 2019, which I snapped up as a used copy in December 2021, so by Valentine’s Day 2022 it was already standing on my shelf. It’s a Kenneth Lylover design with a typical occasion-themed feel, in the same Seasonal category as 40270 Valentine’s Bee, which it matches perfectly. LEGO kept it on sale only briefly, from January 2019 to the end of 2020, so these days it turns up on the secondary market less and less often. 147 pieces, one figure of a cream-coloured puppy with a red rose, and a base with a red brick-built heart and two clumps of flowers: a simple but effective composition.

Putting it together took me about 25 minutes, and building the puppy itself is good fun. I liked how LEGO handled the floppy ears: small light beige pieces come together into a soft, realistic shape. The red rose is a small but meaningful detail that gives the whole thing character and turns this BrickHeadz into a real canine Romeo. Together with the Clown 40348 and the bee, it forms a consistent group of occasion-themed BrickHeadz lined up in one row on my shelf. I recommend it to anyone who likes seasonal themes, and especially to people looking for a last-minute Valentine’s gift.
