The year 2023 looks pretty exciting for fans of the BrickHeadz series. Of course the news of the month is the return of the Lord of the Rings characters to LEGO, but I’m also happy about Minecraft, and Star Wars is always welcome too. Personally, the announced Disney characters impress me the least, but that doesn’t mean I don’t value them at all, they make me happy too. So far I don’t see any weak sets for 2023 (among the ones we know anything about).
January 2023
40615: Star Wars
A character from the Star Wars universe, unknown at the moment.
40630: Lord of the Rings - Frodo & Gollum
This news spread among LEGO fans at the speed of light: new Lord of the Rings sets are joining the LEGO family. And although most people were hoping the sets would appear in a series other than BrickHeadz, I was hugely pleased by the news, and it gives others hope that LotR will return in other forms too.
40631: Lord of the Rings - Gandalf the Grey & Balrog
And even more Lord of the Rings!
40632
No details at all apart from the set number and the release month. There’s a high probability that, as is now tradition, it will be a figure connected with Chinese New Year.
February 2023
40622: Disney 100th Anniversary
It’s supposed to include Mickey Mouse in his Steamboat Willie outfit, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Snow White and Tinker Bell. You’ll admit it’s a strange choice of characters, but the link to the 100th anniversary of the Disney studio may explain it.
March 2023
40619: Disney - Cruella & Maleficent
Probably all the Disney sets announced so far in the BrickHeadz series will refer to the studio’s 100th anniversary, and that’s why here they’re serving us another strange combination of characters.
40620: Disney - WALL-E & EVE
This set is surely a challenge for the designers: presenting both robots in a way that still keeps the BrickHeadz style. We’ll see how they managed.
40621: Disney - Moana & Merida
As above, another Disney anniversary set.
April 2023
40624: Minecraft - Alex
As a fan not only of BrickHeadz but also of Minecraft, I was sorry that so far only one BrickHeadz set connected with Minecraft had come out. That’s why the news, which had been going around for quite a while, that Minecraft is coming back to the BrickHeadz series made me very happy. We even know the piece count already, and it’s supposed to be 86.
40625: Minecraft - Llama
I don’t think there’s anything more to add, except maybe that here we know the piece count too, and it will be a nice round 100.
40626: Minecraft - Zombie
Expected piece count: 81.
May 2023
40623: Star Wars
At the moment nothing more is known about this set.
