Out of the blue, two sets based on the One Piece manga have been announced for August. More here.
Microblog
Sometimes I have a short message that does not fit into a news post, yet it would be a shame for it to go unpublished and get lost. That is what the microblog is for: quick notes on any topic (still about BrickHeadz, though).
If you’re looking for inspiration on how to display your BrickHeadz figures, you can take a look at the suggestions from LEGO, using The Lord of the Rings as an example.
The news recently broke that the Star Trek series is coming to LEGO. It would be wonderful if this launch also brought us something new in BrickHeadz.
Apparently from tomorrow set 40728 Brite Bomber is back as a gift with purchase. The offer is supposed to run until 19 December and I don’t know whether it will be available in Poland, because all the sources are foreign so far. For that reason the minimum spend is also in dollars and has been set at $90.
The first photo of set number 40668 has appeared online. The quality is poor and I’m sure we’ll get the official photos any moment now, which is why I’m only writing this short mention; I’ll hold off on a separate article for now 😉 In the set we get Captain America and Red Hulk. Release on 1 December.
A bit of trivia. Every now and then someone tries their hand at LEGO Ideas with a BrickHeadz project. I’ve never seen a project get more than a few hundred votes. And then suddenly this project appears and, at the time of writing this post, it has collected almost 5 thousand votes. To take part in the final review you need at least 10 thousand. I wonder what chances a project from our series would have 🙂
Personally I’m a BrickHeadz collector and I collect them for my own pleasure, but I won’t pretend I don’t know that many people are interested in this series mainly for investment reasons. And as it happens, the FanKlocków YouTube channel (a Polish LEGO fan channel) has posted a recording of a live stream that took place two weeks ago, and it’s about buying BH for later resale. It may be controversial that I’m promoting this, since that approach directly affects the prices of retired sets, but firstly, fanklockow.pl simply do a fantastic job, and secondly, our series is exclusive anyway, and that’s the main reason prices always go up, never down.
Rumour had it that figures based on Fortnite and Animal Crossing would come out this year. And now worrying information has appeared that the sets won’t come out after all. Whether the information about their release was false from the start or the sets were cancelled for some reason isn’t known. We’re waiting for more information.
BrickHeadz figures number 239, 240 and 241 come from the set “Joy, Sadness & Anxiety”, number 40749. Figure number 244 is Iron Man from LEGO 40669. So where are numbers 242 and 243? They will probably be two figures from a set based on the film Captain America: Brave New World. The film was originally due out this year, but its release was moved to 2025, which is probably the reason for the temporary gap in the numbering.
I came across a suggestion online that in August a new Go Brick Me set dedicated to Real Madrid, number 40614, will appear. I’ve written about the possibility of this set appearing several times already. Nothing suggests that this is the moment it will happen.
LEGO is adding to its range a new set based on the film Jaws #21350. And do you remember what choice LEGO offered in the vote for set number 150 in the BrickHeadz series? Exactly. I demand a figure based on this film classic! 😉
The first leaks, back from last year, said that we could expect BrickHeadz Animal Crossing sets in March. However, there are two days left until 1 March, so everything suggests that on Friday we’ll get “only” set 40677 Prisoner of Azkaban Figures.
An update to the announcements for 2024. This time the details of set 40676, planned for May, have been revealed. It will be five Star Wars characters, and the list is very interesting. I’ll be building it 😉
New information has appeared about the upcoming releases this year. Take a look at the updated article.
Dear fans of the BrickHeadz series, Merry Christmas! I wish you pure enjoyment in getting more sets; may they decorate your shelves, cabinets and desks and may they fill you with pride 😉
Since the LEGO and Nintendo partnership is going so well and the Animal Crossing series is coming to BrickHeadz, maybe we’ll finally get BrickHeadz Zelda? 🙂
We’re still waiting for set 40614 Real Madrid. There were many predictions that it would come out on 1 August, yet there’s still no official confirmation that it will be made at all. A pity, because we’re all hungry for new releases 😉
Earlier I wrote about set number 40623 Battle of Endor Heroes being already available in New Zealand. Since then a few reports have appeared about its availability in other parts of the world, mainly at various official events. And today a signed set, obtained at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023, went up for sale on ebay. There’s also a nice photo of the designers ready to sign the set 🙂
Two sets numbered 40627 (139 pieces) and 40628 (131 pieces) are due out in September. Nothing more is known yet.
Set 40623 will be available here in May, while in New Zealand, at the certified LEGO store in Auckland, you can get it already.
This dark brown “stick” is very rare; it appeared in only four BrickHeadz sets dedicated to Harry Potter. How did I notice? Well, I ran into a scammer who sold me sets 41615 and 41616 with these pieces swapped for shorter, much more common ones. I’ve been importing sets from all over the world, and the one who cheated me was a fellow Pole.
A small rumour is going around the Internet that this year we can expect a BrickHeadz set from the world of Sonic the Hedgehog. It may even be several figures, not only Sonic but also, for example, Tails, Doctor Eggman and Shadow. For now nothing more is known.
Recently I wrote that I had come across set 75317 in ordinary shops and that this might signal wider availability of BrickHeadz sets outside the official LEGO Stores. It turns out that it’s the only BH set that isn’t exclusive, meaning its distribution isn’t limited. That also explains why this set has a number so different from the other BrickHeadz. All of this most likely comes from the licence agreement. I’m curious how it went in detail and why such an exception was made.
We now know which figure will get the honour of number 200 in the BrickHeadz series. It will be… the Llama from Minecraft 😀
It seems that something has changed recently and LEGO BrickHeadz are reaching wider distribution, not only the LEGO Store. In the last week or two I came across BrickHeadz twice in different shops, for example I found 75317 The Mandalorian & The Child at Auchan. The price was high, not attractive at all, but I’m curious whether this is a temporary situation or already a permanent change and a new trend.
I need to vent. I hoped that the missing series numbers on the instructions of BrickHeadz sets was a temporary mistake. It looks like it isn’t, and it may stay that way for a long time. In my opinion it’s a slap in the face for collectors 🙁
Despite earlier leaks that the WALL·E figure in set number 40619 would have stickers on its eyes, it turns out that isn’t true. They’re printed! Phew!
There’s no doubt that some BrickHeadz fans approach this series more as investors than as collectors. If this side of BrickHeadz interests you, I recommend an article that appeared online last week. It has plenty of examples of how you can make money on this series.
Don’t forget that today is the release of the three new sets I wrote about, among other places, here. Off to the shop! 🙂
