Another, and so far the last, figure released by LEGO to mark the opening of an official store, in this case in Hangzhou. Once again LEGO went as far as producing a neat box.
| Release year | 2020 |
| Number of figures | 1 |
| Number of pieces | 98 |
| In my collection | Yes, since 26 December 2022 |
Finding the exact opening date of this store was a real challenge. The English-speaking Internet has no such details (only general information that it was June), and only after translating my query into Chinese (开业Lego商店在杭州) did I manage to establish that the opening took place on 25 June 2020. It’s also a mystery how long the celebrations lasted, although the official poster mentions 12 July. Nobody knows when during that period the BrickHeadz figure was handed out. The set was given away free with purchases of at least 799 Chinese yuan, and availability was limited to 5000 sets. The pieces came packed in a plain plastic bag with a plastic zip seal, but, similarly to the edition from Amsterdam, the whole thing was handed to customers in a paper box with an open front. Instructions were included with the set. The heart piece is printed, not a sticker, and it’s the only piece unique to this set.
Below is the official poster announcing the free gifts. That’s where I found the information that the BrickHeadz was available to customers spending at least 799 yuan. Tracking that information down was quite a challenge 😉
The set goes by several names/numbers:
Hangzhou BrickHeadz
HANGZHOU-1
6322719-1
A curious fact is that although the instructions show the figure with round eyes on the first page, the model itself was released with the standard BrickHeadz eyes.
Another curiosity is that a year later this set was available again. On 10 July 2021, LEGO Hangzhou celebrated the store’s first anniversary, and among the many attractions and prizes the BrickHeadz were supposed to be available again, limited to 1200 sets. The condition was spending at least 1388 Chinese yuan, and then you got the BrickHeadz figure plus two minifigures. The article I’m drawing this information from states that the BrickHeadz was worth 99 yuan. I don’t know how to interpret that: could it be bought separately? There’s no information about it whatsoever.
Update
There’s one more story connected with this anniversary event that should interest BrickHeadz fans. Namely, there were figures up for grabs that raise legitimate doubts as to whether we should officially count them as part of the BrickHeadz series or not. Read this article if you want to know the details.
