LEGO BrickHeadz has its own figure that is the mascot of the whole series. The simplest in its form, it highlights the idea behind the whole venture and, paradoxically, shows the rich possibilities, setting the imagination going. Let me introduce the LEGO BrickHeadz Nonnie figure.
I couldn’t find any information anywhere on the Internet about when Nonnie officially appeared. He has certainly accompanied the whole series for a long time and was already known on the day BrickHeadz launched in Singapore. There’s also no denying that you can spot him in the logo of the whole series.
Nonnie also got his own Instagram account, at instagram.com/nonniebhz. The first photo appeared there on 6 March 2017. The profile was set up by Macros Bessa and was active for a little over a year.
Several times, both on the Instagram account mentioned above and during a few interviews with Marcos, we could see Nonnie in a sitting version. He also appeared in a mini version, under the name Buddy. Marcos presents the mini version in this interview at 13:09 (the interview was conducted by a fellow Pole, Paweł Kmieć, from sariel.pl!) and then talks about how they decided to introduce figures in a smaller form to the series, and calls them all Buddy. As we know today, many figures in a smaller format eventually appeared in the series.
Nonnie got the most attention when set number 41597: Go Brick Me officially went on sale, where Nonnie takes centre stage on the box and the instructions give us all the details we need to build him.
A unique version of Nonnie saw the light of day in 2017, during the annual Inside Tour event, but you can read about that in a separate article.
