Three new Harry Potter sets in August?

Yesterday the first information appeared online about possible new BrickHeadz sets that would land in our hands in August. For now these are only unconfirmed rumours, but as I showed for example here, Harry Potter is a regular and very popular guest among LEGO sets, so it wouldn’t be at all surprising if this universe expanded its presence in the BrickHeadz series too.

According to the announcement, we should expect three sets on 1 August, each of them a two-pack. Below are the set numbers and names, which make it clear which characters we’ll be shown. We’re getting another Harry!

40616: Harry Potter & Cho Chang
40617: Draco Malfoy & Cedric Diggory
40618: Kingsley Shacklebolt & Nymphadora Tonks

This year new sets are arriving at quite a pace. Admittedly these are only rumours for now, but my quick sums show that by August 2023 we would already have an extra 15 sets in our collections, 31 figures released in 2023 in total. For comparison, the whole of last year brought 17 sets and 34 figures. On the other hand, the pace of new releases in the second half of the year doesn’t have to be impressive at all. Let me remind you that in 2022 sets came out in August, then one set in October, and that was the end of the year. So this year there will probably be a few more figures than in recent years, but there’s no chance of getting close to the record year 2018 (43 sets, 59 figures, counting Geoffrey the giraffe and Shimao BrickHeadz). Then again, let’s remember that it could turn out the complete opposite, as for example in 2020, when we got a mere 13 sets and 16 figures (counting Hangzhou BrickHeadz).

Update 2023-02-22
New information has appeared suggesting that set number 40618 will be a two-pack after all, and that the second figure we’ll get is apparently Nymphadora Tonks. I’ve added this information to the news above.
