While combing the Internet for news about BrickHeadz, every now and then I come across more or less puzzling photos and information. I then put such findings aside somewhere and try to come back to them in my spare time, which results in further articles on my site. I thought that instead of noting all of this down somewhere in the corners of my computer, I could keep it in a separate article.
I’ll note down all the puzzling things about BrickHeadz here, and if I manage to find a solution in the future, I’ll add the relevant information, links to the article with the explanation and so on.
2023-01-15: a puzzling set
2023-01-20: puzzle solved!
While recently writing about set number 6322719: Hangzhou BrickHeadz I had to comb the Internet, translating content from and into Chinese. That’s when I came across the puzzling photo I’m showing below. I don’t know any details of where it comes from. It wasn’t described in any way, just an image file posted on some social network. I have little doubt that it isn’t BrickHeadz, but I’m curious whether it’s a set made for some specific occasion, whether LEGO really has anything to do with it (there’s a logo, but anyone can print one) or maybe it’s a set produced to order by someone (not LEGO)?
When I started going through my notes on such puzzles, it suddenly turned out that I had already come across this figure once before. In September 2022 I found this post on reddit.com. Look at the figure at the bottom right. Does it look familiar? The post was submitted on 25 March 2018, so the figure is already a few years old. While searching for information on this last year, I came across the LEGO Monkie Kid set, which I described here, but only now have I found any confirmation that the set in the photo below exists.
Reddit users and the author of the post refer to this figure a few times. Here are those comments:
“the front of one is only in China,is tencent video user can get”
“Cool post. Includes the lesser known LEGOxTENCENT collaboration too.”
“It’s a character from a video game or something.”
I wrote to the author of the post asking for help identifying this figure, but unfortunately he didn’t reply. So that’s all the information I have, and it’s a big puzzle for me that won’t leave me alone 🙂
