New LEGO BrickHeadz Minecraft sets

More leaks that appeared back in September last year are being confirmed. In April three new BrickHeadz sets will hit the shops, all of them dedicated to Minecraft.

So we’ll get three single sets:
40624 - Alex (86 pieces)
40625 - Llama (100 pieces)
40626 - Zombie (81 pieces)

Importantly, the llama set will get the round number 200 in the BrickHeadz numbering. I admit that because of this number I had some hopes of a repeat of the vote on the theme for number 150. On the other hand, Minecraft was also one of the options in that vote, so there’s sort of hope that in the future we’ll see figures from the other universes that were on the list back then.

This time there’s no gradual trickle of information, the sets appeared on the LEGO websites straight away, although not on all of them at the same time (lego.pl still doesn’t have them, but they are here: Alex, Llama, Zombie the sets are now visible on lego.pl: Alex, Llama, Zombie).

Personally, I have mixed feelings, even though I really like Minecraft. And yet hardly anything fits the BrickHeadz idea as well as the characters from this game.

Meanwhile…

Alex looks more or less right, although I’m afraid many people would have trouble recognising this character.

The Llama is probably the nicest of the new sets, it looks interesting, and I’m sure I’ll enjoy building such an unusual figure that uses building techniques other than the standard ones. Whether it resembles the original is a completely different matter, but with animals we have to accept that in BrickHeadz they will look strange as long as the designers want to stick to the building rules of this series.

And finally the Zombie. The figure I probably had the highest hopes for and the one I’m most disappointed with. The printed piece is a twin of (or maybe even identical to, it’s hard to judge the colours on renders) the one from Steve, and it doesn’t really match the original character from the game for me. And although I wouldn’t have a better idea for the head myself, I don’t like the one we’ll get in set 40626, it looks like a dopey Hulk 🙁

But as often happens with me, I grumble when I look at the renders, and once I get the figures in my hands it passes 😉 Hopefully it’ll be the same this time.
